Trenčianske Teplice - Pearl of the Carphatian Mountains


Trenčianske Teplice got its title, Pearl of the Carphatian Mountains by famous novelist, Mórk Jókai who admired this scenic spa located in romantic valley surrounded by forest.


Trenčianske Teplice belongs to the oldest and the most sought for spas in Slovakia. The spa town Trenčianske Teplice lies in the western part of Slovakia in the middle of the scenic valley of the hill Strážovské vrchy. Through the valley flows the river Teplička. It is located only 15 km from the town Trenčín and it is surrounded by two ranges – Grófovec (557 masl) from the north and Klepáč(575 masl) from the south.


The climite of Trenčianske Teplice is mild or very humid mountain climate. It has diverse geological composition. On the slope made of limestones and dolomits grows a lot of species of thermophilic Pannonian grasses and herbs. Beeches with maples occupy northen slopes. At some places it looks like primeval forest. Hill Baba and Žihlavník-Baske near the village Omšenie were declared national nature reservations out of the wide range of natural beauties around Trenčianske Teplice.


Typical animals for forests of Trenčianske Teplice are deers, wild boar, fox, badger and squirrel. From the birds it is hawk, falcon, blackbird, jay, owl and other species.


Trenčianske Teplice offers to tourists wide range of sport, touristic and educational activities. You can find here many cycling and hiking trails of different lenght and difficulty. Nature which surrounds Trencianske Teplice is suitable for nordic walking. In nearby villages Omšenie and Motešice is possible horse riding. There is tennis court, minigolf, fishing, hunting, rafting and bowling available as well.
